Opening of Times Square in Reims-Cormontreuil
FREY announces the opening of Times Square, its new retail complex, on 24 August 2016. Situated in the heart of the historical area of the Reims conurbation, the top retail destination in the region, Times Square Cormontreuil offers a dozen or so brands over a surface area of 7,600 m². Gémo (clothing and footwear), Jacqueline Riu, Orchestra, Devred, Boulangerie Louise, Hans Anders, Armand Thiery & Toscane, Yséal Coiffure and integration of the Amazon Locker service.
After completing the transfer of Leroy Merlin at the end of 2015 and its installation in a more spacious store, FREY launched the redevelopment and restructuring of this former DIY superstore, present since 1990. FREY’s objective was twofold:
- reinvent a new retail space for a dozen or so boutiques, mainly focusing on personal goods and complementing the current merchandising mix in the area;
- open up this plot and improve traffic flow by creating two new access routes and a new road, to meet the needs of the traffic studies conducted by FREY and the local authorities.
Outside, PACE Architecture created facades using a cutting-edge process with a unique effect: 8,000 LED spots integrated into a customisable light strip running round the building’s three new facades. This strip will display cutting-edge visuals to all visitors.
Key figures:
- Surface area: 8,000 m²
- Parking: 500 spaces
- Total investment: €16 million
- Architect: Atebat and Pace
